So, 2022 is starting off with a bang here at Union Mission. Already we have had a staff retreat at Chief Logan Convention Center where all of our employees spent two days training, team building, and sharing stories from their departments. It was a great time of growth for our team.

In the adjacent story in this newsletter, you will read about our new building we recently acquired. This building will be a huge asset for the mission as we continue to seek new paths of revenue to support our programs. The article details the layout and how the building will be used.

Why then, while we are still in the midst of the pandemic, is Union Mission expanding and taking on new responsibilities? As the President and CEO of Union Mission, here are 3 key reasons for why the Board of Directors and I decided to make this move now:

#1 – Our great team of directors and administrators are a creative, knowledgeable group of people. I have challenged them to keep looking for ways to make the Mission more effective and sustainable. Having a larger sorting and storage warehouse for donations to the Mission and additional retail space will allow us to have a better grasp on understanding what we have in inventory as well as reaching additional customers on the other end of Kanawha City.

#2 – We have no idea how the pandemic is going to play out in 2022. This may be the new normal for us. The Bible calls us to not live in fear but to put our hope in Jesus. Union Mission has to keep focused on our mission to help the hurting people of West Virginia. We have to keep building the mission for the sake of presenting the gospel while we address physical needs.

#3 – Our campus on South Park road is old (built in the 1970s) and is showing its age in the buildings. Having a separate structure, off campus, gives us some redundancy when it comes to warehouse/storage space should we have to temporarily vacate a building for repairs. This also gives us options during our busy holiday season when we have more inventory of food, clothes, toys, and Christmas items.

Please join us in praying that this new building will be a valuable asset to Union Mission. Please pray it will allow us to reach more people with the Gospel and generate additional income to fund our ministries. If you would like to tour the new building, please call the office and we can arrange a walk through. I think you will find the potential with this building very exciting.
