This is showing my age, but do you remember the Peace Corp commercials they would play on TV and radio? The part that always stuck in my mind was their tagline at the end of the commercial. “The Peace Corp. The toughest job you will ever love.” That statement was then followed up by the brief sound of rapid drum beats. I can still hear those in my mind.
Union Mission is facing the same employment difficulty that most businesses are facing across the nation. There are staffing vacancies that need to be filled immediately. You see it almost everywhere you go and it is even more obvious in the food industry. It seems that I talk to people weekly who are looking to fill positions in their organizations.
Now, I may be biased, but working at Union Mission is much different than working retail or food service. Working at Union Mission allows employees to be a part of developing a ministry while earning a paycheck. Working at Union Mission allows employees to see the direct results of clients responding to the Gospel and working to make a change in their lives. Employees get to be a part of families being reconciled, of men and women overcoming the grip of addiction, and of the hungry and homeless being given the basic necessities for sustaining life. It is a tough job at times. But if I could steal the line from the Peace Corp. and add something, it can be “The toughest job you will ever love with eternal results!” (cue drum beats)
We currently have over seven positions available at Union Mission. Many are in our addiction recovery program, thrift store, and men’s shelter. Union Mission offers competitive pay rates as well as incredible benefits packages and a team building environment.
