Last fall, our Development Department created a “virtual” Prayer Team. The team consists of various people across the region and across the country that have committed to praying for the needs and concerns of Union Mission. While it was slow getting started during our busy fall season and with the Covid challenges we faced, our communication with the team is improving and is starting to take off.
In a recent staff meeting, I was updated on the progress of the Prayer Team efforts and was blown away by the details. As of the day I am writing this letter, there are over 70 prayer warriors committed to praying for Union Mission on a regular basis! What an incredible blessing for the mission. I have witnessed time and time again the power of prayer during my tenure in the pulpit and my time here at Union Mission. To know that there are over 70 people lifting up the mission to the Lord, it really humbles us all and we are honored to know there are those who would care about Union Mission.
I am sure we are all familiar with the passage in James 5 where he points out the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (availeth much). Within that chapter, James points out that Elijah prayed and stopped the rain for three and a half years. He prayed again and the rains came and nourished the land. James clearly points out that Elijah was a person just like us. I am in awe of what God can do for Union Mission; especially
with 70 Elijahs praying for the work we are doing here.
