Ok, going to the dentist may not be at the top of your list of fun things to do. At Union Mission, however, we love to make trips to Ghareeb Dental Group. They graciously offer men and women in our addiction recovery program dental work for no charge. We spoke with Dr. Mitri Ghareeb from Ghareeb Dental Group about their desire to help the mission.
“We love the mission. Having the opportunity to care for the men and women in the rehab program is a real blessing for us,” says Dr. Ghareeb. “I love talking to each person from the mission that sits in my dental chair. I ask them how they are doing and they often share their story of how they ended up in a drug rehab. I remind them that the only difference between us is the choices we made. I love speaking into their lives and love to see the transformation they are undergoing
at Union Mission.”
Dr. Mitri goes on to explain why they, as an organization, choose to partner with Union Mission.
“It is easy for us today to get very jaded by the current welfare system. Unfortunately, we see people that don’t need assistance get it. Union Mission does a great job of identifying those that have a true need and can really help them with their needs. They help those that fall through the cracks of the system. That is why e have chosen to help Union Mission. They do all of this while sharing the love of Jesus Christ.”
“We love our home state of West Virginia. We want to be a part of helping fellow West Virginians. My dad, Dr. Sami Ghareeb, immigrated to West Virginia decades ago with nothing. He had nothing – just some clothes in a small suitcase. The people of West Virginia welcomed him. He went to dental school, opened a practice in Poca and raised his family here. Our roots run deep in West Virginia even though I am a second generation immigrant. We want to see our state get better and love the opportunity to be a part of it.”
Ghareeb Dental Group has grown to include 5 locations in the Kanawha Valley and in Teays Valley. Members of the Ghareeb staff volunteer and donate to Union Mission.
