Jim and Marie* had originally planned to sell their car which no longer had much value to them. God, however, had a different plan and worked through a friend who told another friend who told them about families who had lost their vehicles in the recent floods. Realizing that their car could make a big difference to a family, they quietly donated it to the mission and the process began.
The mission contacted the Smith* family. John, Pam and their three teenage children had lost their home, belongings and vehicle in the recent floods. With limited funds, it was difficult for them to start over and begin the rebuilding process. One thing they desperately needed was a vehicle which would enable John and Pam to keep their jobs and provide for their children. When they heard that someone was giving them a car, they were very touched and amazed that someone would offer such a gift to total strangers.
The day they came to the mission to pick up the car is a day they will never forget. Their excitement was evident. As John received the paperwork, he became too emotional to speak. When he regained his composure, he told us that this car was the same make and model of the car they had lost in the flood only it was ten years newer!
The car was in excellent condition and the family was very thankful for what the Lord had given them. He not only restored a vehicle, but He gave them one that was better than the one they had before. It’s always amazing when we realize the results of God’s plans and the endless possibilities if we are obedient to His will.
If you have a clear title to a vehicle you want to donate to help someone in need, contact the mission with the good news! Call 304.925.0366 and ask for Bev who will guide you through the process.
