It is absolutely amazing what the power of God can do. He can change old worn out sinful people into new creatures. He can take that new creature and allow him or her to experience a life that was never even imagined. Hebrew 4:12 says “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” God’s Word is power! I thank God that I am able to work in a place where we witness change almost on daily basis.

As I entered the lunch room a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a young man sitting by himself. I asked if I could join him and he was happy to have some company. Breaking the awkward silence, the young man says, “I’m in phase 4.” I told him congratulations and how excited I was that he had come so far. Phase 4 is the last phase of our addiction program and it means graduation is near. I noticed that he did not share in my excitement. I asked what his plans were, and he explained that he would be going back home and probably working with his father. I had to comment that his enthusiasm was lacking a little. The young man explained to me that going home probably wasn’t the best thing for him. Too many temptations were home and he knew that God had saved
him for a reason.

This was very encouraging to me. A year ago this young man was enslaved to drugs, struggling to live let alone make sound decisions. But praise the Lord, because of the gift of salvation and through the power of God’s word, there’s been a great change in another life.

Please pray for us as we battle Satan and the lies of addiction.
